American Family Association Responds to Oral Arguments on Dobbs v. Jackson at Supreme Court

Monday, December 06, 2021 @ 07:44 AM

TUPELO, Miss. — A case which could overturn the 1973 abortion case Roe v. Wade was on the minds of American Family Association(AFA,afa.net) and other pro-lifers this week as the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in the case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Many are expressing calibrated optimism following oral arguments on December 1, 2021 that the Court’s ruling, expected in June, will uphold Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban law.

The law is based on a growing body of scientific evidence about the viability of a baby in the womb not available to the Court in 1973.  Dobbs v. Jackson offers the Court an opportunity to correct its assumptions from 50 years ago, and to overturn Roe v. Wade in whole or in part.

“One of our core values at AFA is sanctity of human life and we believe that life begins at conception and should be protected,” said Walker Wildmon, VP of Operations and Public Policy Analyst for the American Family Association. “This week was an encouraging one for those who value the sanctity of human life. The Supreme Court heard one of the most direct challenges to Roe v. Wade in a generation and there is hope that the sin of abortion that has haunted this nation for over four decades may be slowly coming to an end. We are optimistic that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade and send abortion regulation back to each respective state. Regardless of outcome in this case, AFA will continue to fight to ensure each state abolishes abortion.”
