Tell the WNBA to Define Eligibility Based on Biological Sex

To WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert: I respectfully urge you to adopt a clear, biologically grounded eligibility policy for league participation that defines a woman as a biological female. Such a standard is essential to preserving competitive fairness and safety, protecting the mission of women’s professional basketball, and ensuring that the athletes who have built this league continue to compete on a level playing field. Establishing this policy now will strengthen the WNBA’s identity, safeguard its future, and uphold the integrity of women’s sports for generations to come.

You probably have seen the story of WNBA player Sophie Cunningham being condemned by the woke crowd simply for stating the simple reality: girl’s sports are for girls. Now here is your chance to stand with Sophie and all who want to protect young girls who compete in athletics.

The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) is now being urged to establish clear, consistent eligibility standards. Quite simply, if it doesn’t, the future of the league will be in doubt, and the very existence of women’s sports will be threatened. From a policy standpoint, defining a woman as a biological female for the purpose of WNBA competition is essential to preserving competitive integrity, ensuring fairness, and maintaining the league’s foundational mission of providing opportunities for all female athletes everywhere.

Basketball performance at the professional level is heavily influenced by physiological factors such as average height, muscle mass, bone density, and speed. These God-ordained distinctions create meaningful competitive differences that cannot be fully mitigated through training or hormone therapy.

For example, Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White are two former NBA players who have declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft. While their motives are clearly to force the WNBA to clarify its standards, the point still stands. The very idea of elite male athletes entering the women’s league underscores why the WNBA must articulate firm definitions to protect competitive balance, something it is currently struggling to do because of its internal liberal ideology.

Establishing a clear definition of a woman as a biological female will provide stability, transparency, and confidence for athletes, fans, and the institutions that support women’s basketball (and eventually all sports).
