According to American Family News, Major League Baseball said this week it would fine players who put Bible verses on their caps.
During the San Francisco Giants-Chicago Cubs game last Friday, Giants starting pitcher Landen Roupp took the mound during “Pride Night” wearing the required Giants cap with the homosexual-themed rainbow logo. Events included in the “Pride Night” at Oracle Park were the sinful celebration of same-sex couples renewing their wedding vows with a drag queen officiating. An LGBT-affirming church choir sang the national anthem.
In response, Roupp and two other Giants pitchers, JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker, wrote “Gen 9:12-16” beside the logo, a reference to God giving the rainbow in response to the great flood of Noah’s time. An additional pitcher decided to go hatless altogether.
That’s when the MLB decided to swing its anti-Christian bully bat. The MLB said Bible verses are offensive and future violations could cost players up to $10,000 in fines, setting off a backlash on social media. Actor Rob Schneider has promised to pay the fines for any player targeted by the MLB. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier went further, warning the MLB that any religious discrimination against players in his state will not be tolerated, saying “You’ll be hearing from my office soon.”
Professional sports have become a mecca for anti-Christian bigotry lately, especially in the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, and MLB. Players in all three leagues are being told to embrace the LGBTQ+ agenda by wearing pro-homosexual messages on their uniforms, even if it goes against their deeply held religious beliefs.
Thankfully, there are Christian players who are willing to stand up for their faith, even under duress from the hateful threats by the sports leagues.
