Last Friday, The Stand posted a blog alerting you about Universal Studio's despicable new movie: The Hunt. The movie glorifies people hunting other people and killing them on the basis of political ideology. We invited you to sign our petition urging the studio to drop plans to distribute the movie.
On Saturday, Universal suddenly announced they had canceled their distribution plans and would not be sending the movie to theaters in September, after all.
In a prepared statement, the film studio said, "While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film. We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film."
This means that although Universal will not be releasing the film in September, they may do so at a future time.
While we applaud their decision in response to the recent mass shootings in Texas, Ohio, and California, AFA will continue to urge Universal to shelve the movie permanently.
If you haven't signed our petition to Universal Pictures, please sign it now! It is important that we continue to urge Universal to drop present and future plans to distribute The Hunt and, instead, produce movies that are encouraging and uplifting to society.
If you have signed the petition, thank you for standing with us. Together, and with God's help, we are making a difference!
And, please take a few minutes to read this three-minute blog from AFA staff writer, Mason Beasler, which was posted on The Stand titled “Respectable Murder.” Mason clearly identifies how liberal Hollywood is pushing its leftist political leaning onto the big screen.
