A prayer for evangelism and discipleship

Heavenly Father, we humbly plead for Your love, mercy, and grace to be poured out on Your church. We ask that the message of the gospel flow through us to reach our lost and dying nation and world. Help us come before You with deep conviction of our sins, a fresh view of Your righteousness, and an understanding of how we deserve Your judgment rather than Your mercy.

Grant us true godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and grant us holy fear and reverence for Your name (2 Corinthians 7:10). By the broken body and the precious blood of Jesus alone, we repent of our sins, ask for Your forgiveness, and plead for You to revive Your people once again.

Sanctify us by Your Word, and help us take up our cross daily to follow You (John 17:17; Matthew 16:24).

Fill Your shepherds – the pastors who guide Your flock – with deep repentance, renewed holiness, fervent prayer, and a passion for Your Word. Empower them to lead Your churches to become houses of prayer.

Equip God’s people to do His work to build up the body of Christ, until we all come to unity in our faith and a knowledge of God’s Son – so that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).

Help us to put on the full armor of God and tear down the strongholds of prideful bickering and disunity that so ravage our churches (Ephesians 6:11). Burden us with a burning passion to pray for and witness to the lost. Cause our eyes to weep for these souls.

Lord, call multitudes into ministry and missions. Please send forth a mighty army of laborers who have a zeal for planting new churches.

May Your glory fall upon the church in America for another great spiritual awakening in our land. Purify Your bride, and then come, Lord Jesus, come quickly! (Revelation 22:20)
