When you are in the voting booth and know nothing about any of the candidates for one race, what do you do? If you leave that race blank, you are not alone.
When a voter skips one race, it is called an undervote and it occurs on 35% to 50% of ballots in every election. It is even more common for non-partisan races, where there is not even a party affiliation next to the candidate’s name. While ballots with undervotes still count, have you really voted wisely?
There is a better way.
Before voting, get informed
Founded in 2008, iVoterGuide was created as an online voter guide to help Christians be good stewards of their citizenship and vote wisely. Although AFA Action had partnered with iVoterGuide since its beginnings, iVoterGuide formally came under the AFA Action umbrella just in time to expand its reach for the 2022 elections.
iVoterGuide believes that a person’s actions speak louder than their words, so it spends thousands of hours (about four hours per candidate) reviewing campaign contributions, voting records, and endorsements for candidates in order to break through the rhetoric and media spin.
Additionally, each candidate is contacted and given the opportunity to complete a questionnaire and personally review their information prior to its release.
Once the information is aggregated, the candidate receives an evaluation that ranges from verified conservative to verified liberal. You can also see all the research that led to that evaluation by clicking the more button.
If there is an active election, you can find information for each candidate by going to iVoterGuide.com and entering your address to view races relevant to your specific location. (See the box below for elections this November.)
iVoterGuide also provides information concerning voter registration, polling locations, and election resources to help reach your church and neighborhood.
In the 2022 elections, iVoterGuide researched over 13,000 candidates and helped educate 6.8 million voters. Its coverage in the 2023-2024 election cycle will include evaluations of federal candidates in all 50 states, as well as coverage of statewide and state legislative races in 35 states, plus coverage of key school board races, ballot measures, and special elections across the nation.
With so much information available, voters can go to the ballot box prepared by using iVoterGuide’s in-depth research to vote wisely and identify the candidate that will best represent biblical values.
