Cut Red Tape in Iowa: Ask your state lawmakers to pass HF 2717

Take Action!

I hate red tape. Don’t you? Red tape is used to kill freedom, silence speech, and  destroy religious liberty. Red tape is the weapon of choice of the “Administrative State.” Tablet-tapping, pencil-pushing bureaucrats. … That’s how freedom dies. That’s how the Left uses government to go after its political enemies.

If you want to protect constitutional freedoms and property rights in Iowa, please contact your state legislators and ask them to support HF 2717 (amended by H-8326).

This bill creates a pathway for the Iowa Legislature to review agency rules to make sure that they:

1)     Are actually based in the law and the state constitution, as opposed to the whims of bureaucrats.

2)     Are limited to the actual work of the agency, as opposed to raising “significant policy concerns.”

3)     Require courts to put individuals affected by a “major rule” on an even playing field as the agency issuing the rule.

This latter protection is so important. It’s reversing something called “Chevron deference.” Such judicial “deference” to government agencies is the reason the Administrative State has gotten out of control.

It’s what enables foster care government employees to target Christians – because they’re betting they’ll win in court if their agenda is challenged. It’s what enables environmental protection radicals to use ambiguous language to harm small businesses. It’s what has undermined limited government by giving legal cover to rogue bureaucrats.

All of us are affected by red tape. Anyone on the wrong side of the Administrative State can become a target.

Please call and email your Iowa state lawmakers today and ask them pass HF 2717. The session is essentially ending this week. Please contact your lawmakers today.
