American Family Association says Christians must continue lifting up those who lost loved ones in Uvalde, and to pray for national revival

TUPELO, Miss. — America was shaken by the horrific events in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022, when a lone 18-year-old gunman locked himself in the Robb Elementary School and gunned down 19 children and two teachers within the span of 40 minutes. Even more disturbingly, the suspected shooter posted about his intentions on Facebook days before the attack, writing, “I’m going to shoot an elementary school.”

The nation has gathered around the mourning town, with Texas Governor Greg Abbott stating the day after the attack, “Evil swept across Uvalde yesterday. Days before yesterday, when these children were in school, some were receiving awards for perfect attendance — these kids will never attend school again.”

In the wake of the horror and the devastating family losses, American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) pleads with American Christians to pray for those suffering unspeakably in Uvalde, as well as for a spiritual awakening of repentance and a powerful return to the faith.

“This tragedy has broken the heart of the nation,” said AFA’s Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano. “This evil act is evidence that a deep and demonic darkness has taken root in our culture. So many people have turned away from God, but Jesus Christ is the peace that their hearts are searching for. AFA encourages the millions of Christians in America to continue to pray for those who lost loved ones in Uvalde, Texas, and for the revival our nation so desperately needs.”
