American Family Association Urges Christians to Fight for Religious Freedoms
TUPELO, Miss. — In response to the Biden administration mandates that force religious nonprofit and for-profit employers to pay for or perform gender transition surgeries, procedures, counseling, and treatments, Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorneys recently filed a lawsuit arguing that the rulings infringe upon religious liberties. ADF, which represents the Christian Employers Alliance, is arguing that many companies “hold sincere beliefs that gender transition surgeries and procedures are morally wrong and contradict their beliefs that God purposefully created humans as either a biological male or female and that a person's biological sex is immutable.”
ADF Senior Counsel Matt Bowman commented, “By misinterpreting and improperly enforcing federal law, President Biden has far overreached his constitutional authority, to the detriment of people of faith across the country.”
In response to this important lawsuit, American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano urged Christians to stand strong against authorities that are working hard to take away religious freedoms.
Vitagliano commented, “This is a battle that must be fought. Christians cannot be passive in the face of this radical gender madness. It is a fiction, but it is not a harmless fiction. It threatens religious freedom––among other liberties, like freedom of speech; the implementation of this ideology’s agenda will endanger the safety of girls and women in bathrooms and changing areas; and it will destroy women’s sports.
“Like all radical movements, this one has metastasized. It began with the demand that we all alter our language and pronouns; it spread to allowing men into physical spaces where women should feel safe; it has infected schools and resulted in the attempted brainwashing of our children; and now it threatens Christian companies and organizations by trying to force them to pay for sex changes. The madness has to stop, and it is the gender radicals who have initiated the fight in schools and in the courts. Christians have no choice but to fight back.”
