American Family Association Responds to Taliban’s Belief in Radical Islamic Prophecy

Monday, October 11, 2021 @ 12:12 PM

TUPELO, Miss. — According to a recent article by CBN News, the Taliban and other radical Muslims see the American abandonment of Afghanistan not only as a military victory but as a fulfillment of Islamic prophecy. Joel Richardson, the author of the best-selling book “The Islamic Anti-Christ,” stated, “If we look at some of the main end-time prophecies within Islam… there’s a prophecy that says armies carrying black flags will come from… Khorasan,” or the ancient land that includes modern northwestern Pakistan, eastern Iran, and all of Afghanistan. These armies with black flags, according to the prophecy, will march to Jerusalem and conquer it, planting their flags on the Temple Mount.

While some see these declarations as far-fetched, many experts are encouraging Americans to be aware of these types of prophecies as potential recruitment tactics, with more radical Muslims joining the cause daily to be part of the “army with the black flags.”

In light of these troubling reports, American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano commented on this prophecy and its ramifications. “Ideas matter to human beings,” Vitagliano stated. “Religious ideas are even more powerful, because they provide people with a direction for life that secularists can only mimic. How do you inspire people by saying life is essentially an accident? How do you give people hope by saying there is no purpose to life because we are soulless mammals and destined for nothing more than the grave? The belief in transcendent ideas and a God who oversees His creation is an engine that can drive people to great accomplishments.

“However, that engine can also drive people to murder and oppress because horrifying actions are given divine sanction. Christians need to understand, at least in a general way, the teachings of Islam, because it will be the main religious competitor for the foreseeable future. Moreover, radical Islamic elements will continue to fuel much of the terrorism and mayhem that humanity will experience in the future as well.”
