How Economic News Points Us Back to God

Monday, April 27, 2020 @ 10:59 AM

TUPELO, Miss.—U.S. unemployment rates are closing in on Great Depression-era levels, as 1 in 6 American workers are out of a job due to the coronavirus outbreak. In all, over the past five weeks, about 26 million Americans filed for unemployment.

The American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) says the crisis is a chance for the church to serve others and for the nation to turn back to God.

“People are hurting and afraid, and this economic news is heartbreaking,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “This is truly a 2 Chronicles 7:14 moment for the church. God’s people need to cry out to heaven in repentance and faith, and plead with Almighty God to heal our land and turn back the devastation worldwide. At AFA, we are also praying for a Great Awakening that will shake our nation and turn the hearts of the people back to God.”

For more than 40 years, AFA has operated within the mission to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission. Visit AFA Action Alerts here.
