Hawaiian Tropic is currently airing an extremely distasteful commercial starring the scantily bikini-clad Alix Earle. Model and social media personality Alix Earle is known to reveal too much and to exploit women. This year, 1MM has already spoken out on the Carl’s Jr. ad starring Earle, which aired during Super Bowl LIX.
In this particular ad, entitled “The Tana Sutra,” Hawaiian Tropic presents its “tan-tric guide for optimal glow-getting.” But sadly, the well-known maker of sun care products offers its tanning customers advice by mimicking a catchy phrase similar to that found in the Kama Sutra, an ancient, erotic bedroom guide: “Assume your fave position.”
Earle and five other models, all wearing thong bikinis, are shown suntanning and flipping over to reveal their backsides. The ad also features the models spritzing each other with tanning oil, playfully spraying each other with a water hose, doing erotic yoga poses, as well as Earle doing a backbend and the splits.
The commercial ends with the tagline “Hawaiian Tropic for every position” as Earle faces the sunset, exposing her thong-clad rear end to viewers.
The entire ad is sexually suggestive, disrespectful, and extremely inappropriate to air while families are likely watching. This type of cultural appropriation is harmful and destructive to society.
If you agree that Hawaiian Tropic’s “The Tana Sutra” marketing campaign is inappropriate, please sign our petition urging the company to cancel its commercial starring Alix Earle immediately. Do not forget to share this information with your friends and family today!
