Several years ago, AFA’s leadership team realized that major repairs to our 40-year-old facilities were necessary. Over the months, discussions of renovations evolved into a comprehensive campus plan to be undertaken in several phases. It would be the largest construction project in AFA’s history. When completed, the campus would be equipped to serve as the ministry’s hub for decades to come.
The first phase of the plan included construction of a two-story, glass-front building to house AFA’s major work areas, meeting rooms, and more. The building would be named the Don Wildmon Center for Cultural Transformation. (See drawing below.) Construction began in late 2020 and was completed some 18 months later.
Recently, as we were cleaning out my Papa’s office, we came across an architect’s drawing from more than two decades ago. It depicted a two-story building with a glass front. Construction of the building was never undertaken, and though I had never seen the drawing, remarkably, it resembled the new Don Wildmon Center for Cultural Transformation. When I showed the drawing to our staff recently, they gasped at how much Papa’s plan resembled our new campus center.
God’s fingerprints? Confirmation of His guiding hand over this ministry? Absolutely.
And so, Papa got his two-story building with a glass front, and we got strengthened in our faith that God is with us at AFA.
