It’s time to set the record straight. Radical pro-abortion groups are lying about the need to put a right to abortion in the Pennsylvania state constitution. They don’t want “safe and legal” abortion. They want abortion-on-demand, no limits, no safeguards, no parental consent.
It’s up to you to stop them. Please contact your state senator and ask them to vote NO on HB 1957.
Under current Pennsylvania law:
• Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks of pregnancy
• After 24 weeks, it is allowed to protect the life or health of the mother
• Abortion pills are legal and widely available
If that wasn’t enough, the Pennsylvania House is pushing for a constitutional amendment, HB 1957, that would grant the highest level of legal protection (‘strict scrutiny”) to abortion and any “personal reproductive” decision, including as it applies to “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.”
This would very likely include any form of sex-change operation or intervention, possibly even for children. And the amendment would very likely be used to justify taxpayer funding for abortion and transgender procedures, especially through the Medicaid program.
If passed, HB 1957 would cripple all efforts to regulate abortion in Pennsylvania, including any waiting periods, any opportunities for informed consent and parental consent, and any health and safety regulations for abortion clinics.
Your voice matters. It’s time to speak up and ensure HB 1957 is stopped in its tracks.
Constitutional amendments are permanent. Pennsylvania families need you to take a stand now.
HB 1957 passed the House by a vote of 102-101, with two Republicans voting for this radical, pro-abortion measure. The proposal is now in the Pennsylvania Senate.
Please contact your state lawmakers, especially your state senators, and ask them to vote NO on HB 1957.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune continues to stall.
