America and the world are in a spiritually dark place. It seems at times there is nowhere to turn through the trials and clouds that seem to cover our land daily. The church is being challenged to stand the test of time and hold tight to the Word of God and the truth. Through all of this there is one truth we can stand on. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, offers redemption to those who call out to him. (Psalm 34:17-18)
From the beginning of creation, God has sought close fellowship with His children. In Genesis Adam and Eve had perfect unity and fellowship with God until they disobeyed Him. The result was devastating. Sin entered the world. God chose to punish Adam and Eve later in Genesis 3 because they turned their back on Him. Then, even though mankind turned its back on a holy and just God he chose the route of redemption. In Genesis 7:1 God called Noah and his family and representatives of all the animals to the ark and then flooded the whole earth. His purpose with the flood was to offer a new beginning.
This seems simple but it is so profound and amazing. The Creator of heaven and earth chose to give us a fresh start after we turned our back on Him. Then we move ahead to the ultimate redemption story: Jesus Christ. God sent His Son in the flesh to be beaten, mocked, ridiculed, and ultimately crucified so that WE can have eternal fellowship with Him. This is the definition of a perfect and holy sacrifice.
Not only did Jesus tear the veil so that everyone has access to the Father, but He also spent His whole life on earth healing the sick, making the blind see, and calling everyone to repent of their sin and turn to God for the redemption of sin.
We are broken. Our world is hungry and thirsty for redemption and Jesus says, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them” (John 7:37-38). May we all come to the Giver of life, Redeemer of souls, and one true God.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me (Revelation 3:20).
