“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6, KJV)
In Luke 2:1-19, Jesus was not born in a palace to be laid in a golden crib, but instead, He was born in a stable with a feeding trough for animals as His bed. He was wrapped in cloths, not fabrics fit for a king. The Christmas story sets the tone for what is to come. Money, wealth, and riches cannot buy eternal life in heaven. No one can buy or earn his or her way to heaven; there is only one way, and that way to turn from your sin and put your trust in the finished work of Christ on the cross.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9, KJV).
The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Jesus gave all so we could have it all one day if we choose to accept His gift of eternal life in heaven. I cannot think of a better gift! The only real hope is in Jesus!
The birth of Jesus is worth celebrating, but the resurrection is the reason He was sent to earth. It is the finale to the Christmas story.
Jesus is and always will be the reason for the season. He is my reason; I pray He is yours. From One Million Moms … have a blessed CHRISTmas, and may God richly bless you in 2018!
