“There is no single biological standard by which all humans can be reliably sorted into a binary male/female sex classification.”
That was the absurd statement issued by the American Anthropological Association following the cancellation of a session on the skeletal differences between men and women at its 2023 annual meeting. The session was pulled from the schedule because it was considered “transphobic.” What in the world is going on in the scientific establishment?
I asked that question to Dr. Georgia Purdom, who holds a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from Ohio State University and now serves as Vice President of Educational Content for Answers in Genesis. She was my guest for a lively conversation on The Stand Radio. As we discussed the genetic and chromosomal evidence the defines the differences between the sexes, she emphasized how true science is being usurped by a politically based gender ideology.
Even though the differences between men and women are obvious from a physical standpoint, they extend far deeper than mere physical anatomy to the very cells themselves. Dr. Purdom said that every cell has a gender. Females have two X chromosomes whereas men have an X and Y chromosome. She offered a simple phrase to remember, “no Y, no guy.” Even more significant, according to Dr. Purdom, are the variations in genetic activity between men and women.
Dr. Purdom shared insights from a 2017 gene activity study showing that over 6,500 genes exhibit different levels of activity in male and female tissues, affecting everything from muscle development to immune system function. This genetic activity underscores biological distinctions that cannot be ignored or redefined by gender ideology or its proponents in the scientific establishment.
Our discussion also included the children subjected to “gender-affirming care.” Dr. Purdom elaborated on the potential problems of hormone therapy in a child’s body where the natural genetic activity is already productive in accordance with the child’s gender. The long-term results of this kind of “treatment” are completely unknown. She reiterated that all of this leads to some of the most tragic experiments on humans that have ever occurred.
