Cosmopolitan, an American quarterly fashion and entertainment magazine geared towards women of all ages, published an article last month spotlighting Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic Abortion Clinic. Yes, that’s really the name of the clinic run by an organization called The Satanic Temple. Tastelessly named in mockery of historically conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s late mother who was vocally opposed to abortion.

“The New Mexico–based telehealth practice, a legitimate medical entity run by an accredited clinical team, offers abortion care to patients within state lines. The staff prescribes abortion pills (at $91 per set, a competitive price) up until the eleventh week of pregnancy and offers 24/7 phone access to licensed medical personnel to anyone in need. It’s just that they’re also Satanists, members of a religious organization called The Satanic Temple.”

This is the same Satanic Temple that in 2016 showed up at a pro-life protest wearing adult diapers and baby masks where they were seen flogging each other with whips which one TST member said was a “commentary on the Christian right’s ‘fetishization of the fetal image.’”

The blasphemous piece features animated pull quotes in which the “Ts” in the wording spin to portray Petrine Crosses or upside-down crosses which are most often associated with Satanism and other forms of anti-Christian beliefs.

Evil.

Highlighted in the article is Jessica, a mother of three in Albuquerque who is expecting baby number four “but not for long.” Jessica, whose name has been changed to protect her identity, and her husband have decided to terminate their pregnancy because a fourth child wasn’t in their plans and turned to The Satanic Temple for help.

“A set of abortion pills is waiting for her back home, thanks to speedy shipping via Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic team … She stumbled upon the clinic while googling options for abortion medication in New Mexico. At first, while clicking through the website, Jessica found TST’s vibe ‘kind of off-putting.’ (She was raised Catholic but is no longer religious.) Nevertheless, the price was right.”

Patients like Jessica are told to make a ritual or ceremony of this barbaric eviction of their precious child. They are even encouraged to invite friends and family, light candles or dress up – “whatever makes them feel empowered.”

They are instructed to

“find a quiet space. Bring a mirror if you can. Just before taking the medication, gaze at your reflection and focus on your personhood. Home in on your intent, your responsibility to you. Take a few deep, relaxing breaths. When you’re ready, read the following tenet aloud: One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

“Later, once your body expels the aborted tissue, return to your reflection. Focus again on your personhood, your power in making this decision. Complete the ritual by reciting a personal affirmation: By my body, my blood; by my will, it is done.”

A gross, sacrilegious play on the Scriptures surrounding the Passover, specifically Luke 22:19-20: “And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’”

Ultimately, TST’s goal is to “push to expand its clinic model beyond New Mexico — into states where abortion is otherwise banned” in the name of religion. The clinic works under the pretense that it is a faith-based operation even though the TST website clearly states that it does not worship Satan nor does it believe in the existence of Satan or the supernatural.

Curious.

Alliance Defending Freedom’s (ADF) director of strategic engagement, Jordan Lorence, referred to TST’s tactics as an “assault on religious freedom” in an article published by Fox News. The ADF senior counsel member continued, “The Satanic Temple threatens everyone’s religious liberty protections with its ill-advised plan linking its pro-abortion propaganda with alleged religious practices.”

Though putrid and vile, at the end of the day, TST and its embarrassingly named clinic are, in the grand scheme of things, small and unimportant. With that said, the war on our unborn is real and it is waging with relentless fervor.

Prayer:

Father, we are grateful for the hope of heaven and while we wait, we long for revival. We long for the sanctity of life to be restored. We believe that you will command your angels concerning the unborn. Protect them please, Father. Grant us the strength to press forward. Grant us the gift of boldness. We ask all of this in your mighty name, Amen.
