Crime Wave Sets Records Across Blue States

Florida prosecutor Andrew Warren was likely accustomed to working with police officers as they discharged their official duties.

On August 4, however, their official duty was to kick him out of his own office.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had sent law enforcement to remove Warren and prevent him from taking any documents with him. This prosecutor was not under formal investigation. His elected term had not expired.

So what led to the governor booting one of his state prosecutors?

Constitutional end run-around

It starts with a man named George Soros. A career in managing other people’s money has brought Soros a net worth of around $8.6 billion. That amount of money normally buys the mega-rich a fleet of luxury cars, boats, and jets, along with spacious mansions and sprawling estates.

In this case, his vast wealth has bought Soros a collection of government prosecutors.

Since 2016, Soros has dumped more than $29 million into the campaigns of more than 20 liberal state prosecutors, according to the Capital Research Center.

Through this mass infusion of campaign funds, Soros has managed to install his left-wing activist district attorneys in major cities across America, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Manhattan.

Many refer to these prosecutors as “activist prosecutors” because of their specific brand of justice: Not prosecuting crimes and instead releasing criminals onto the streets. It’s sort of an anti-justice brand of justice.

The Soros DA in Manhattan, Alvin Bragg, released a memo to his staff on January 3, 2022, stating that prosecutors “will not seek a [prison] sentence” in cases of armed robbery or drug dealing.

Chicago’s Soros DA, Kim Foxx, has seen a 30-year record in homicides during her tenure. Car thefts targeting specific types of vehicles have risen by 767%. Meanwhile, Foxx dropped charges against a staggering 30% of felony defendants during her first three years in office.

Instead of donating to congressional candidates in each of these states to eventually change the laws, Soros discovered a faster way to get what he wants. Once he’s established his activist prosecutors, it doesn’t matter what crime-stopping laws are passed.

The left-wing DA, supposedly, can simply decline to enforce them.

Defund to Refund

Swapping prosecutors for activists is not the only crime-friendly Democrat strategy in the works these days.

After the death of George Floyd in 2020 at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, liberal politicians nationwide called for a defunding of police departments.

Minneapolis soon became ground zero for the “Defund the Police” movement. One month after Floyd’s death, the Minneapolis city council unanimously voted to eliminate their police department.

"We are closer than [anytime] in history, and anywhere else in the country, to a safe, thriving city without police,” said Miski Noor of Black Visions Collective.

Noor’s utopian optimism notwithstanding, the city’s populace responded exactly how any reasonable person would expect.

By November 2020, the Minneapolis police force had lost over 100 officers, and the city’s crime rates were skyrocketing. According to the Washington Post, homicide was up 50%, with more than 500 people suffering gunshot wounds (double the previous year’s total). This crime wave also included a five-year high of 4,600 violent crimes.

“We’re under siege,” said Cathy Spann, a community activist in Minneapolis. “[O]ur city has failed to protect us.”

Likely befuddled, the city council members reassembled to fix the mess they created. Their new answer? Hire more police officers.

In February of 2021, the Minneapolis city council released a $6.4 million plan to expand the city’s police department.

George Soros, not to be dissuaded, later donated $500,000 to a group that is still pushing to dismantle the Minneapolis police department.

By March 2021, more than 20 major U.S. cities had reduced their police budgets.

In September of 2021, the FBI released its 2020 Uniform Crime Report, revealing a 29.4% homicide increase in 2020, breaking a 60-year record. Additionally, as George Soros and his bought-and-paid-for officials around the country ensured, the FBI also reported a 24% decrease in arrests nationwide during 2020.

Out of the Blue

A crime wave of this magnitude, ignored and arguably abetted by elected officials and billionaire activists, cannot exist without major fallout.

Specifically, when criminals are given free rein to burglarize local establishments unhindered, those businesses will eventually be pushed out of the liberal cities.

One excellent example is the Walgreens exodus from San Francisco.

In recent years, San Francisco has towed the liberal party line, including electing a Soros-funded DA, moving to defund the police, and adopting laissez-faire criminal justice policies.

In fact, DA Chesa Boudin’s policies were so damaging to the city that they accomplished the previously unimaginable: uniting the left and right.

A recall election removed Boudin from office after 61% voted against him.

Unfortunately for San Francisco citizens, the liberal policies had already taken their toll. Just since 2016, Walgreens has closed 22 stores in the Bay Area.

In October of 2021, Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso told San Francisco media that “[r]etail theft across our San Francisco stores has continued to increase in the past few months to five times our chain average.”

Similarly, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced in July that the coffee giant would be closing 16 locations across the nation – all of which operating in democrat-run states (six in Los Angeles, six in Seattle, two in Portland, and one in both Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.).

“At the local, state, and federal level,” said Schultz, “leaders, mayors, governors and city councils have abdicated their responsibility in fighting crime and addressing mental illness."

Of course, businesses are not the only entity fleeing liberal states. The people are leaving too.

In 2021 alone, United States Postal Service data shows that California lost approximately 101,000 households, while New York lost around 75,000. The USPS report also shows that California, New York, and Illinois (the states with far-left prosecutors and policies) account for the top-three states Americans are fleeing.

So many people left California in 2021 that U-Haul, the cargo transportation company, ran out of moving trucks to rent to people leaving California.

Conversely, reports from both U-Haul and USPS show the top-two states that grew in recent years are Texas and Florida, states with mostly conservative governments and law-and-order criminal justice policies.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would like to keep the Sunshine State on the growing side of this nationwide migration.

The prosecutor DeSantis kicked out of office, Andrew Warren, had previously signed a pledge promising not to enforce Florida’s new law restricting abortion after week 15 of pregnancy.

Unsurprisingly, Warren is yet another beneficiary of George Soros's money. Like the rest of us, DeSantis has watched what Soros has done to other cities like San Francisco and Minneapolis.

"You want to know why some people are moving to Florida?” DeSantis asked. “Because their communities are no longer safe, thanks to prosecutors [who] think they . . . get to pick and choose which laws they're enforcing."

The George Soros arsenal of activist prosecutors seems to be engaged in some kind of competition to see who can create the most lawless, crime-infested city in the United States.

Although many governments have replaced criminal justice with social justice, Governor DeSantis is proof that not every state must fall prey to George Soros and his activist prosecutors.
