There’s a song in Toy Story that is titled “Strange Things.” The chorus of the song goes like this:
Let me tell you about the strange things are happening to me
Strange things
Strange things are happening to me
Ain't no doubt about it.
And while strange things may not be happening to me personally, things are sure suspicious across the country. With the battle between Covid, Afghanistan, faulty politicians, and more, it seems as though the world is going mad. But one video I saw recently took the cake for me: a baby on an American Airlines flight.
In the video, we are shown a two-year-old child suffering from an asthma attack. In it, a frazzled mother tries to help him get air by taking off his mandatory mask. Seems understandable. Right?
Shockingly, to the crew of AA Flight 1284, this infant was more dangerous than any terrorist. I mean, wouldn’t we all compare a breathless baby to a terrorist? Of course not. But for this flight, it might as well have been. Because instead of helping the child, the two-year-old and his traveling party were escorted by police from the plane. After all, in American Airlines’ words, the mother and son were being “non-compliant.”
Let me say that again. An asthmatic baby was thrown off of a plane because he couldn’t keep on a mask. Not to mention the child had also tested negative for COVID-19 the day before. In the video, the mother tries to cover his mouth, showing she attempted to comply. Nevertheless, they were taken off the plane.
For some reason, this video struck a raw nerve. In the last month, our leaders have made some terrible decisions, including (but not limited to): vaccine mandates, Afghanistan withdrawal, and no presidential speech on the 20th anniversary of 9-11.
Yet, the strangest of them all is perhaps the double-standard we seem to be living. On September 13th, the annual Met Gala took place. This year, Hollywood elite paraded around in elegant (and somewhat disgusting) costumes. On average, this event costs 30K a seat. I can only imagine that the room smelled like money. I mean, AOC’s shoes cost more than an average couple’s monthly grocery budget, according to the USDA.
But it wasn’t the glitz, glam, or fame that upset me. It’s was masks. Something that the left-wing media didn’t acknowledge was noticeably absent. On every star-studded celebrity, there was a piece of cloth missing from their mouth. But no worries, every waiter, photographer, and journalist picked up their slack and sported a mask at the gaudy event.
Ironically, the Metropolitan Museum has a long list of COVID protocols. While having a vaccine is the most important requirement, even if a guest is vaccinated, they still must wear a mask…no exceptions. Their website clearly says, “Face coverings are required for all visitors age two and older, even if you are vaccinated.”
Also, the New York City Department of Health currently states: “Due to the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant, we strongly recommend everyone wear a mask whenever they are in a public, indoor setting, even when it is not required, and in any setting when they do not know who around them is vaccinated.”
Nevertheless, these high-class hypocrites paraded around in gowns with their glasses of champagne. Seriously. It looked like a scene from the Hunger Games. But the real question is, does having exotic dresses and loads of cash buy your way out of COVID? Seems to be that way to me.
On top of this lavish event, there are countless images of high-class Democrats (even the president) not wearing masks in areas marked to do so. My co-worker, Joy Lucius, recently wrote a piece about Pelosi’s fabulous garden party. There were dozens of good old fashion folks in attendance. Unfortunately, there was not a single face-covering in sight – except for the help.
When these facts are brought up, in a chorus, many libs say, “Well they’re vaccinated! If you would get it too, we could all live this way!” Isn't that funny? The CDC still claims that masks are required for the vaccinated. On the CDC website, the "recommendations" say, “Require masks for all employees and customers, regardless of vaccination status, in areas with substantial or high transmission.” (Is it coincidental that everywhere has a high transmission rate?)
So why don’t the elite have to follow the rules too? I guess the world will never know.
COVID-19 is deadly. I have the utmost sympathy for those who have fought, lost, and battled with this virus. And surprisingly, I am supportive of masks in certain situations. But I have no sympathy for the rich and powerful trying to hold us in our place, control jobs, and make us seem like the weaker link. I'm not a fan of doing as they say, not as they do. Are you?
For not wearing a mask, an asthmatic child was kicked off an airplane. But the high-profile peeps? Those fantastic superstars? They get to do whatever they please, masks or no masks. I don't know about you, but it's a little concerning to me. Strange things are happening.
