I am excited to announce that American Family Radio is now broadcasting into northern Virginia where tens of thousands of people who are guiding America's future live and work.
Thanks to you, AFR is reaching into communities around Washington D.C. A huge number of new listeners are hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ and the urgent call for the nation to return to the values and principles upon which it was founded – values like hard work, honesty, civility, justice, religious liberty, morality, and more.
And doesn't our society need to re-embrace those things? I'm convinced that the liberties we now take for granted will cease to exist if our nation doesn't rediscover those founding principles that were based on Scripture.
That's why I want to tell you about two ways that AFA is pushing forward to expand and strengthen the voice of Christian America:
1. New radio stations in:
Baton Rouge, and New Orleans, Louisiana
Corpus Christi, Texas
Jacksonville, Florida
Lexington, Kentucky
Memphis, Tennessee
Huntsville and Montgomery, Alabama
Some of these stations are already on the air, while others are well into the process. When fully operational, these new stations will add more than 2.5 million people to our potential listening audience. Except for Memphis, these stations will broadcast the programming of AFR Talk, our network's Christian conservative format. The Memphis station is broadcasting Urban Family Talk, part of AFA's outreach to the black community.
2. ‘The God Who Speaks’ documentary
Production on an expansive new AFA documentary has just begun. An original project of American Family Studios staff, the film will defend the Bible as true, inerrant, and authoritative. We are praying that God will use the film to reveal the trustworthiness of the Bible's claims and call viewers to a response worthy of His majesty and grace. A number of well-known scholars have agreed enthusiastically to participate.
The God Who Speaks is scheduled for release October 31, 2017, the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
The cost of the radio network expansion and the new documentary film about the Bible will be over a million dollars in addition to AFA's ongoing work.
The bottom line is that while the cost is significant to carry out AFA's many projects, the cost to America will be even higher if we do not do this work – namely, the loss of religious freedom and the ever-increasing marginalization of Christianity.
Yes, there is great reason for concern – terrorism, bitter political discourse, the absurdity of cultural debates over whether or not men should be allowed in women's public restrooms, and all the rest. However, America's struggles present a great opportunity for the church to stand firm as "the pillar and support of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15) and to proclaim the hope found only in the mercy and grace of God.
America needs a voice that will come alongside the church to proclaim that message. You and AFA are that voice.
So, please take part in AFA's $1,000,000 America Cannot Wait 2016 Campaign so that we can keep America's Christian voice strong, clear, and effective!
With a $10 (or more) one-time contribution, you'll receive a pack of five A Time To Speak DVDs to share with your family and friends. A Time To Speak is a 60-minute film highlighting the need for Christians to pray, speak out, and vote. It was produced by our American Family Studios, a division of AFA.
Even if you are not in listening range of AFR, you can access AFA's 3 radio formats 24/7 at AFR.net or by downloading our free App here.
