U.S. Senators are demanding Planned Parenthood affiliates return coronavirus funds that were intended for businesses that suffered loss during the pandemic. These funds were made available through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) of the recently passed CARES Act.
Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) said, "Under the statuary text of the CARES Act, organizations like these affiliates [such as Planned Parenthood] were expressly prohibited from receiving PPP funds."
Lankford and other senators sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr urging him "to investigate the activities of dozens of Planned Parenthood affiliates that reportedly applied for and received approximately $80 million in loans from the Paycheck Protection Program, despite actual knowledge that they were ineligible for such loans."
Reports indicate that the Small Business Administration (SBA) that dispersed the funds has already demanded Planned Parenthood affiliates return the money or face "severe penalties."

Senators signing the letter urging Barr to investigate Planned Parenthood include:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Mike Braun (R-IN), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), John Cornyn (R-TX), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Steve Daines (R-MT), Mike Enzi (R-WY), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), John Kennedy (R-LA), James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Lee (R-UT), Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), David Perdue (R-GA), Jim Risch (R-ID), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Rick Scott (R-FL), Tim Scott (R-SC), John Thune (R-SD), and Todd Young (R-IN).
Planned Parenthood Federation of America responded to the senators' demand for an investigation and claimed taxpayer funds actually helped it "continue to provide patients with essential, time-sensitive sexual and reproductive health care during this crisis." There's never an essential time for the federal government to send your money to abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.
These senators also stated in their letter:
Most damningly, Planned Parenthood's own political action committee, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, issued a statement on the CARES Act after the Act's passage in the Senate, saying: 'The bill gives the Small Business Administration broad discretion to exclude Planned Parenthood affiliates and other non-profits serving people with low incomes and deny them benefits under the new small business loan program.'
Sign and share the petition with your family and friends. Let's stand together with these senators and their demand for an investigation of Planned Parenthood defrauding the American taxpayer.
