THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
TUPELO, Miss. — Directed by Dr. George Barna, the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University released its fifth annual American Worldview Inventory. Barna claims the U.S. needs a ‘spiritual awakening’ to resolve the division across American political views. The research identified syncretism as the dominant worldview among Americans and biblical theism as the second-most common. Ninety-two percent of Christians practice syncretism while only 6% claim to have a biblical worldview. In discussing the results of the research, Barna said: “People have become so self-focused and their beliefs are so self-serving that no politician elected in 2024 can reasonably be expected to restore common purpose and shared vision to the nation without a serious reshaping of people’s worldviews.”
American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) President Tim Wildmon found the results of the study do not fully reflect what has happened among American’s spiritual worldviews and that it is the job of the church to awaken Christians in their faith.
“These survey results underscore what has been happening in America over the last 50 years, and it is nothing less than a spiritual catastrophe,” said Wildmon. “Sex and gender radicals, secular humanists, and cultural Marxists have labored tirelessly to overthrow the biblical, moral, and constitutional foundations of the nation. It is time for the pulpits of America’s churches to once again burn brightly with holy preaching and teaching to awaken Christians to their God-ordained calling to be salt and light. The hour is late, but the Lord of heaven waits for His shepherds to respond in faith and with a passion to see God glorified.”
For over 40 years, AFA has operated within the mission to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission. Founded in 1977, AFA has long been on the front lines of America’s culture war. Today, AFA is one of the largest and most effective pro-family organizations in the country, with nearly a million online supporters and approximately 110,000 subscribers to The Stand (formerly known as the AFA Journal), the ministry’s monthly magazine. Find AFA Action Alerts here. In addition, AFA owns and operates nearly 180 radio stations across the country under the American Family Radio banner.
