American Family Association urges Trump transition team to prioritize social conservatives in key roles

TUPELO, Miss. — The American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is urging President Trump’s transition team to prioritize the appointment of social conservatives to key agency positions as the administration prepares for a historic second term.

“Christian voters played a pivotal role in President Trump’s initial victory in 2016, and their influence was just as crucial in the 2024 election,” said President of AFA, Tim Wildmon, referencing Dr. George Barna’s recent report from Arizona Christian University.

Barna’s research found that 72% of voters this year self-identified as Christian, and Trump won 56% of that demographic.

As the Trump administration begins to shape its cabinet and other leadership teams, AFA emphasizes the importance of honoring and engaging the core demographic that has consistently supported the President’s vision since 2016.

“Personnel decisions shape policy outcomes. There is a dedicated pool of experienced and principled individuals who are passionate about protecting the sanctity of life, preserving marriage and family values, and defending religious freedom,” Wildmon noted. “These individuals are ready and eager to serve in advancing the administration’s goals.”

AFA also cautioned that overlooking this vital demographic for key positions could dampen enthusiasm for the President’s agenda, potentially impacting support for the administration in future elections, including the 2026 midterms.

AFA encourages the Trump team to continue working with key organizations and individuals who share the administration’s commitment to foundational values and principles.
