THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
TUPELO, Miss. — Donald Trump interviewed on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” last Sunday and restrictive abortion policies. Gov. Ron Desantis (R-FL) signed into law a six-week abortion ban and Trump commented it was "… a terrible mistake."
Several Republican governors have implemented similar "heartbeat" abortion restrictions in the wake of last year's Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization Supreme Court decision that there is no constitutional right to abortion.
American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) President Tim Wildmon stated:
“President Trump’s comment that the Florida Heartbeat Law was a ‘terrible thing’ was very disappointing to hear. Trump’s presidency was very good for the pro-life cause and he deserves credit for that. Gov. DeSantis and the Florida legislature chose to protect babies who have a heartbeat and they should be commended for that, not condemned.”
For over 40 years, AFA has operated within the mission to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission. Founded in 1977, AFA has long been on the front lines of America’s culture war. Today, AFA is one of the largest and most effective pro-family organizations in the country, with nearly a million online supporters and approximately 110,000 subscribers to The Stand (formerly known as the AFA Journal), the ministry’s monthly magazine. Find AFA Action Alerts here. In addition, AFA owns and operates nearly 180 radio stations across the country under the American Family Radio banner.
