THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
TUPELO, Miss. — A new Christian coffee shop ministry in Colorado, The Drip Café, is learning how much the Denver Communists and associated sexual agitators want to crush religious liberty. The café is being protested and vandalized by groups objecting to the business’s expression of its belief in biblical commands for sexual purity and prohibitions against activity outside of marriage between one man and one woman. The shop owner believes protestors are objecting to statements on the website of the shop’s parent company that the “homosexual lifestyle is contrary to God’s Word and purpose for humanity and is sin.”
American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano said the shop’s response is a powerful example of Christian virtue, but that too many believers are oblivious to the determination of those who oppose the Gospel with intimidation and violence.
“When it comes to the culture war, this is further evidence that the radical left is fighting to win, and clueless or passive Christians are learning this the hard way,” said Vitagliano. “LGBTQ activists and cultural Marxists are at war with God and those who love Him. But the brave owners of this coffee shop are taking the right approach: standing firmly for God’s truth without compromise; helping those around them who are in need; and loving their enemies as Christ loved us when we were lost sheep.”
For over 40 years, AFA has operated within the mission to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission. Today, AFA is one of the largest and most effective pro-family organizations in the country, with nearly a million online supporters and approximately 110,000 subscribers to The Stand (formerly known as the AFA Journal), the ministry’s monthly magazine.
