AFA: America ‘will either return to a deep trust in the God of the Bible or perish’
TUPELO, Miss. — Louisiana’s Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards recently signed a bill to put the national motto, “In God We Trust,” in every public classroom in the state in the midst of what has been called “a rising conservative movement across the country.” Florida, Arkansas, South Dakota, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Texas have passed similar legislation. The Louisiana law gave specific regulations for displaying the motto, such as mandating that the motto be “at least eleven inches by fourteen inches” and “central focus” in the display. Additionally, the schools do not have to pay for the displays but can use outside funding.
American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano said that public displays of the national motto, “In God We Trust,” express a powerful sense that the US must return to the path of recognizing the God of the Bible. America is experiencing the spiritual and material degradation that follows countries who forsake God — the country must return to God before it’s too late.
“What Louisiana has done should be done in schools across the nation –– and in every public space of every community,” said Vitagliano. “The sentiment expressed in our national motto is simple yet critically important to the future of America. We will either return to a deep trust in the God of the Bible or perish. Our nation has, in so many ways, abandoned God, and we are witnessing the damaging effects of that rebellion in real time. Placing the national motto in our public schools is a great place to start if we hope to see a great awakening in the next decade.”
