AFA charges Christians to remain positive in light of ‘loss’ of absolute truth in American culture

TUPELO, Miss. — A new poll is raising some concern for the future of America. A breakdown of a recent poll from Summit Ministries shows that the younger an adult is, the less likely they are to believe in absolute truth. 55% of adults 30 and under say they believe each person determines their own version of truth, while 42% say they believe in absolute truth. A spokesperson for Summit Ministries stated, “The loss of truth has grave consequences for community, justice, a sense of purpose and mental health. I’m not aware of any civilization that has abandoned reality to this extent and survived.”

Despite these concerning statistics, American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano said Christians should remember the power of the Gospel and how its message of hope has overcome obstacles as seemingly insurmountable and implacable as the pagan Roman Empire. Now is the time for Christians to engage with the culture with optimism in the power of the absolute truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“Young people today have been inundated by atheistic, nihilistic, and sexually perverse messaging,” said Vitagliano. “So, Christians should not be surprised by these poll results. However, we should be neither discouraged by them nor passive in the face of them. Instead, as the Apostle Paul said — as he ventured forth into regions of the world without any spiritual truth at all — we should remain confident in the power of the Gospel to save the lost. An empire was changed by that Gospel message two millennia ago; our nation’s direction can be changed too.”
