American Family Association’s Year-End Message: ‘Resist and Restore’

TUPELO, Miss. — A year of converging mega-events that shook the nation and the world called American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) to a renewed vision of faithfulness, perseverance, and hope. Millions of Christians looked to the ministry for information, resources – and most importantly – a biblical perspective.

Although the scales of liberty seem to be tipping in favor of those who would rebuild our social and political institutions into a Marxist state, AFA’s marching orders continue to be to resist and restore.

“Americans need to resist the ‘progressive’ push coming from so many influencers in our society, and restore a Christian conscience to our nation,” said Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association.I’ve often said that AFA’s mission is to transform the culture by informing, equipping, and activating individuals and families. It's your prayers, gifts, and actions that have made this possible for over four decades.”

Now, the groundwork for the next 40 years of AFA’s mission is being laid – literally and symbolically – with the construction of the Don Wildmon Center for Cultural Transformation. Click here to review the 2020 Highlights brochure which provides more information about the new center along with a recap of the amazing year of faithfulness, perseverance and hope through the ministries of AFA.

Some of the 2020 Highlights include reaching approximately 1 million people monthly through AFA web pages and social media. Also, through American Family Radio, which is heard on 179 stations in 31 states, in addition to a variety of digital and print resources, AFA contributed to shaping national public policy and cultural life by:

Fighting the forces pushing radical ideologies on sex and gender.

  • Exposing the growing Marxist threat to our republic.
  • Supporting the God-ordained institutions of marriage and family against the increasingly aggressive attacks by secularist forces.
  • Defending constitutionalist judicial nominees from the slanderous attacks by those who want an activist judiciary.
  • Remaining ever vigilant and responsive to the efforts by the extreme Left to eviscerate religious freedom

“I am so pleased with AFA’s accomplishments in 2020,” continued Wildmon. “One of my favorite passages in the Bible deals with the ‘mighty men’ who served David (2 Samuel 23:9-10). They stood with David and would not leave the battle! We are in a battle to show America her way back to God.

“Like you, we love our families, we love this nation, and we love our communities. As G.K. Chesterton once said, ‘The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.’ Yes, 2020 has been a tough year. Though we have been tested, by grace we stand firm on God's Word.”

For over 40 years, AFA has operated within the mission to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission. Visit AFA Action Alerts here.

AFA—founded in 1977—has long been on the front lines of America’s culture war. Today, AFA is one of the largest and most effective pro-family organizations in the country, with nearly one million online supporters and approximately 160,000 subscribers to the AFA Journal, the ministry’s monthly magazine. In addition, AFA owns and operates nearly 180 radio stations across the country under the American Family Radio banner.
