THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
TUPELO, Miss.—For more than 40 years, American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) has focused on families, as the organization has helped them come together, educated them about cultural issues that affect all families and provided resources that keep families strong.
As stay-at-home suggestions remain in place through the end of April, families are in challenging situations, with children home from school, parents working from home or even experiencing temporary job loss and stressful news that can create worry. But this is a perfect time for families to unite and grow closer.
“Our ‘new normal’ of life in America has drastically changed over the past several weeks,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “Even in these challenges, there is a bright spot for families, and they can reconnect, reset and re-center. We have been forced to stay home and slow down. Our daily distractions have been cut considerably. It’s during this time that we can return to the core of what the family is meant to be. In this journey, AFA is committed to offering prayer, encouragement, biblical resources, lessons in leadership and more. From our previous fast-paced world, we can now pivot to how family should look in the eyes of the Lord. God has slowed everything down, perhaps to contemplate what is important in this life, and He has our attention.”
Wildmon pointed to the many resources AFA offers that can help families during this unprecedented time.
