American Family Association Encourages Families and Church Groups to Spread the Word About Easter Film ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’
TUPELO, Miss.—The American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is excited to partner with RevelationMedia and Cat in the Mill Studios for the first-ever theatrical release of John Bunyan’s epic masterpiece, “The Pilgrim’s Progress,” which will hit theaters nationwide this Easter, April 18 and 20 only.
“Several weeks ago, the producers of ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’ animated movie were in town and hosted a private screening for our staff,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “We were elated as we watched five years of hard work come to life on the big screen. The animation, the characters and the script were all amazing. We know this film is going to have a powerful impact on children and families here in America, and around the world.”
According to Movie Guide, “‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’ is the best, most entertaining, most imaginative movie translation of the classic book that’s sold more copies than almost any other book except the Bible. It is a work of art and of entertainment.”
AFA also noted that friends of the pro-family organization have a limited opportunity to gather their families and church groups and experience this epic story brought to life on the big screen. Resources are available on “The Pilgrim’s Progress” website, as well as a free Interactive Story Book featuring animation from the movie. After the theatrical events, the film will be made available for free to missionaries in the field, worldwide, and much later in the year, the film will be available for church showings and home entertainment.
“We live in a nation filled with immoral content, and AFA fights continually to warn the American church to be on guard and protect our children’s ears and eyes,” Wildmon added. “In today’s world of increasing immoral media, we need to get behind godly films like ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress.’ Our children and families need this powerful story to help them walk the straight path.”
Another way to combat spiritual darkness in the culture is to shine the truth of the Gospel, Wildmon continued, which is exactly what John Bunyan’s allegory from the 1600s does. “The Pilgrim’s Progress” does not shy away from presenting the true path of every Christian, he said.
AFA reports that those interested in seeing the film can do so via several methods:
- Find a local theater showing of “The Pilgrim’s Progress” at www.Pilgrims.movie.
- Inquire about group discounts for “The Pilgrim’s Progress.”
- View or show the Free Interactive Story Book in your church or with your family, also available at www.Pilgrims.movie
- Spread the word about the film by sharing the movie trailer on social media, showing the trailer at your church, blogging and using graphics from the “Resources” section of the website to make the most of this ministry opportunity.
