The U.S. Supreme Court has announced it will hear the case of a Denver baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple on faith-based grounds. Jack Phillips, the Denver baker and owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, refused to sell a customized cake for a gay couple’s union on the grounds of religious exemption to the state’s anti-discrimination laws.
The state courts ruled against Phillips, and now this case is being brought before the high court. Does Colorado’s public accommodations law violate Phillips’ constitutionally protected Christian beliefs about marriage?
