TUPELO, Miss.—Leaves will soon begin changing colors to mark the splendor of autumn, but “Snow” will fall in just over a week.
The popular family film “Summer Snow,” released by American Family Studies, a division of American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net), has been called “wonderful,” “inspiring,” “exceptional,” “amazing” and “uplifting.”
Next week, millions of families and church groups will have a chance to hear the message that one life can make a difference. DVDs of “Summer Snow” are available for pre-order now at the American Family Association online store (www.afastore.net) or by phone at (877) 927-4917. The DVD will be officially released on Oct. 6 and will be shipped to those who pre-ordered shortly thereafter.
“We’re so glad ‘Summer Snow’s’ uplifting story will be able to reach millions of families and church groups through the October 6 DVD release,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “My father, Donald Wildmon, had a vision to change entertainment for the better, and I know he would have been so proud of ‘Summer Snow’ and its message that one life can truly make a difference. Many people heard about the film in theaters or saw it on UPTV, and we are looking forward to seeing a whole new audience experience ‘Summer Snow’ on DVD this fall.”
Written and directed by brother-sister team Jeremy White and Kendra White, “Summer Snow” was so successful at the box office in its premiere cities of Tupelo, Miss., where AFA is headquartered, and in Lexington, Ky., where the movie was shot, that it was carried over for three additional weekends.
Additionally, “Summer Snow’s” successful television debut on UPTV on August 17 set network records, becoming the second-most-popular movie in the history of the network and also the No. 1 movie premiere thus far in 2014 among women ages 25-54. “Summer Snow” was rebroadcast on UPTV on Aug. 22 and Sept. 1.
Feedback to the film has been exceptional, and Dr. David Jeremiah, President & Founder of Turning Point Ministries and Senior Pastor at Shadow Mountain Community Church, said of the film, “At a time when ‘good news’ is in short supply, you will be so blessed by ‘Summer Snow.’”
Starring David Chisum, Cameron Goodman, Garrett Backstrom, Brett Rice and Rachel Eggleston, “Summer Snow” tells the story of 8-year-old Hallie Benson (Eggleston), a small girl with a very big heart. Whether baking cookies for a grumpy neighbor or selling toothbrushes to help a friend, Hallie always thinks of others. Unfortunately, her “creative” ways of helping people often leave her father, Dan (Chisum), with a mess to clean up. Dan struggles to keep it all together after his wife’s death. He doesn’t cook, do hair or know how to help his three children without his beautiful wife and her unshakeable faith in God.
