We live in a world full of noise, complexity, and plenty of reasons to doubt. But every now and then, something cuts right through all of that and reminds you what faith is really supposed to look like. For Bro Don Wildmon, that something came in the form of letters written by children to God.

In this episode of It’s My Turn, Bro Don shares a collection of these letters, originally published in a Reader’s Digest article, and they are something else. Kids have a way of getting straight to the point. No theological gymnastics, no carefully worded disclaimers. Just honest, open-hearted questions directed straight at the Almighty.

One child writes, “Dear God, how do you feel about people who don’t believe in you?” Simple. Direct. And honestly, it’s the kind of question a lot of adults dance around but never quite ask.

Another wonders, “Dear God, what’s it like when you die?” There’s no fear in that question, just genuine curiosity from a heart that hasn’t learned to be afraid of the big stuff yet.

Then there’s little Maxine. Her letter is a straightforward thank-you: for her family, her home, the world around her. “Thank you for everything,” she writes. It doesn’t get any purer than that.

Bro Don draws a natural connection between these letters and what Jesus himself said about children. He didn’t just tolerate kids crowding around him; he pointed to them as examples of the kind of faith worth having. There’s something in that childlike honesty, that willingness to ask real questions and say thank you without overthinking it, that we tend to lose somewhere along the way.

This episode is really an invitation to slow down and ask yourself: When did faith get so complicated? God isn’t looking for polished prayers or perfectly constructed theology. He’s looking for the same thing he always has, an honest heart and the humility to come as you are.

So if you’ve been carrying the weight of doubt or feel like your faith has gotten a little tangled up, let these kids show you the way back.
