AFA and AFR would not be what they are today without the hand of God and the generosity of their supporters.

“We are reminded of this all the time, but especially twice a year when we hold our fall and spring Share-a-thons,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “Through their faithful prayers and financial support, our supporters provide us with the means to share the gospel at home and abroad.”

Here are some specific ways that God is using the gifts from AFA and AFR supporters to carry out kingdom work.

In Africa

The July 2024 issue of The Stand highlighted the story of Radio La Grâce (Grace Radio), a Christian radio station in Togo, West Africa, founded and operated by Kokou and Yvette Loko. AFA founder Don Wildmon was instrumental in the station’s beginnings by donating and shipping essential radio equipment that allowed Radio La Grâce to begin broadcasting January 1, 2002.

Over 20 years later, when AFA President Tim Wildmon learned that the original equipment no longer operated correctly, he sent new, upgraded equipment to Togo to carry on his father’s legacy.

In 2024, two AFR engineers, Kevin Robbins and Josh Taylor, traveled to Africa to manage the installation of a new transmitter, automation system, and conference studio, ensuring that Radio La Grâce continues its vital mission.

In India

Living Sacrifice Ministries (LSM) reaches people in the most forgotten corners of India. Since 1998, the ministry has actively demonstrated the love of God and the message of the gospel by equipping locals and discipling pastors with a foundation in biblical teachings.

Led by Pastor Eliezer Mallipudi and his wife, Prema, who are driven by a commitment to share the Christian message with those who have never heard it before, LSM ministers to villages with no infrastructure and aids villagers who are often detached from mainstream Indian society.

LSM also operates comprehensive orphan-care programs that rescue children from desperate circumstances, giving them a safe place to live, learn, and grow. The ministry has training schools that teach women how to sew as a means of supporting their families. Other efforts include building water wells, providing disaster relief, and teaching adults how to read.

All these projects do more than just take care of basic needs. They provide opportunities for LSM to minister to the spiritual needs of people who have never heard the gospel.

“AFA and AFR have partnered with Living Sacrifice Ministries for nearly a decade,” said AFR host John Riley, who visited LSM in 2024. “Through our ongoing partnership and leadership commitment, AFA and its supporters have helped LSM extend its gospel-centered work to thousands more people across India.”

In prisons

According to World Population Review, the United States has the largest prison population in the world, with over 1.8 million people incarcerated.

Jonathan Coker, director of AFR, said that from time to time, he receives letters from inmates expressing how AFR programs have impacted their lives.

“One letter that stood out to me was from a gentleman in Texas. He wrote extensively about how much he enjoyed listening to AFR; it was his only companion while in prison.”

Over the years, AFR has received many such letters from prisoners: “I don’t have an exact count,” said Coker, “but we’ve received several handwritten letters from inmates.”

In prayer

When people feel lost and unsure of where to go, they often reach out to a close friend and ask for prayer. For many, that friend is AFA. The ministry’s contact form (afa.net/contact-us/contact) allows users to submit a prayer request, which the prayer team promptly receives.

“This is one very important aspect of AFA’s pastoral ministry,” said Pastor Joseph Parker, a member of AFA’s prayer team and host of The Hour of Intercession, heard weekdays at 3 a.m. Central on AFR.

“Some prayer requests we receive are simple,” Parker explained, “while others are much more serious. But all of them are important. So, the team created a way to organize and respond to each request as it comes in. People always have needs, and while it’s important for them to have a local church for support, we recognize that many also reach out to us for prayer, guidance, and sometimes even wisdom. It’s a blessing for us to be able to respond.”
