The Bible has much to say about Israel and the Jewish people. Israel was the nation through which God would bring the Savior of mankind into the world, and the nation that will be at the center of world events leading up to our Lord Jesus’ return. In Psalm 122:6 believers are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to look for the day when “all Israel will be saved” (Romans 11:26) through faith in Jesus.
This month on The Stand Radio, I spoke with Kobi Ferguson, a Messianic Jew and head of Maoz Israel about the current crisis in Israel and the remarkable efforts being made to support and strengthen the nation. The word, Maoz is Hebrew for “strength.” Kobi, a resident of Israel shared his firsthand experiences and insights into the challenges and triumphs faced by the Israeli community during these tumultuous times.
Kobi compared the impact of the October 7, attacks to the magnitude of September 11 in the United States, emphasizing the profound effect on the small nation of Israel. He also highlighted the mission of Maoz Israel, an organization dedicated to sharing the good news of Yeshua (Jesus) and strengthening the body of believers in Israel.
For nearly 50 years, Maoz Israel has been at the forefront of humanitarian outreach, publishing Hebrew literature, and providing essential resources to the Israeli community. Their efforts have become even more important during the ongoing war, as they adapt to address the urgent needs of soldiers and evacuees.
One of the most inspiring aspects of the episode was hearing about the practical ways Maoz Israel has been able to make a difference. From providing basic necessities like water, food, and bulletproof jackets to soldiers, to establishing schools for children displaced by the war, the organization has stepped up in extraordinary ways. Kobi told me how one mayor's request for help in building a school was met with faith and compassion, resulting in the completion of the project in less than two months.
The spiritual impact of these efforts has been profound. Kobi spoke about the changing perceptions of Messianic Jews in Israel, who have often been misunderstood and marginalized. As they serve their fellow citizens and demonstrate their commitment to the nation, hearts and minds are opening to the message of Jesus.
As our conversation ended, he urged listeners to pray for unity in Israel, for the strength and resilience of the Israeli people, and for the continued opportunities to share the gospel. We invite you to listen to the full interview to gain a deeper understanding of the situation in Israel and to find out how you can help in their ongoing ministry.
