THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
In recent months, it has become clear that America’s so-called “power class” believe they can get away with anything, even molesting children.
Here in Mississippi, these deep state oligarchs are at it again. They are using their power and wealth to try to silence AFA. Within the last few weeks, a billion-dollar bank shut down our ability to collect donations from our supporters. The bank claimed that AFA wasn't part of their "risk appetite." They want to silence us and shut us down. To them, we're what Hillary Clinton called “the basket of deplorables.”
A bill in the Mississippi Legislature would give us – and you – protection. But lawmakers are sitting on it. They need to hear from you – emails this weekend and calls on Monday and Tuesday to your Mississippi Senate and House members.
Tupelo’s own Rep. Shane Aguirre has been an incredible champion for us “little folk.” He is fighting for these protections. Speaker Jason White also understands the need to stop banking discrimination against Mississippi business owners, churches and community-service groups.
“Free market!” – that’s what the Oligarchs are yelling. We can’t interfere with their business practices. “If we want to discriminate against people who read the Bible and own guns, we got the right!”
We’ve heard these sorts of lies before. If you’re discriminated against by a business, you can just go find another one. Just go on across the street to someone else who might condescend to serve you. It’s very ironic that these “too-big-to-fail banks,” who have raked in billions of dollars of taxpayer bailouts, are now parading around as free-market advocates.
The reality is that they want to silence us – AFA and you. They want to banish prayer from all public spaces. They want to push Christians into a corner. They want to take our guns and shut down businesses that sell guns and ammo. They are even targeting small farmers.
And all this is still happening under President Trump. Trump himself is being threatened by these Big Banks, and he is pushing back with a lawsuit.
We need to push back too. Email and call your Mississippi Senators and House members and ask them to pass Fair Banking legislation this week. The bill is SB 2714, as amended by Rep. Shane Aguirre.
