As of today, nearly 100 sub-cabinet and ambassadorial nominations are languishing on the Senate’s Executive Calendar. These aren’t just a few second-string government positions. Many of them are crucial and influential jobs that actually move President Trump’s agenda to create fair trade policies, address illegal immigration, and end government waste.
NO EXCUSES
As Rachel Bovard lays out in her article, “Senate Republicans Won’t Work 5 Days A Week To Confirm Trump’s Key Nominees,” there aren’t any reasons why the Senate can’t schedule confirmation votes and move this process forward quickly.
The shame is ... while President Trump is working for America 24/7, the Republican Senate is dragging its feet when it should be moving full steam ahead to Make America Great Again.
As Bovard states, “The Senate could easily clear every nomination now on the Executive Calendar if they voted on nothing but nominations while working 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., for a full five-day workweek (right now, a normal workweek in the Senate runs from Monday at 5:30 p.m. to Thursday at noon).”
President Trump has done his job by presenting the Senate with his nominees. The Senate now needs to do their job and get them confirmed. Senate Majority Leader John Thune needs to get on board or get out of the way.
TAKE ACTION
Contact your Senators and urge them to immediately vote on and approve President Trump’s nearly 100 nominees who need a floor vote.
