Last year, a ruling by the Kansas Supreme Court endangered every pro-life law in Kansas. Even existing bans on late-term and taxpayer-funded abortions could be "rendered unenforceable" and parental consent requirements for minors seeking abortion struck down.
The only way to reverse the landmark ruling is to amend the Kansas Constitution. Passing an amendment requires two-thirds majority of both the Kansas House and Senate. From there, it would go to the voters of Kansas to decide. According to our friends at Kansans for Life, "A simple majority of votes is all that's necessary once the amendment is on the ballot."
Therefore, contact your legislators now (upper right) and urge them to support the Value Them Both Amendment to the Kansas Constitution.
Value Them Both returns the authority of Kansans, through their elected officials, to rein in the abortion industry and protect both women and preborn babies. If the amendment is not passed, it is estimated that the state's abortion rate could increase by 15 per day. The increase will not only end the lives of 15 more babies but also harm 15 more mothers a day!
The amendment has already been approved by legislative committees and awaits action by both the Kansas House and Senate. Pro-lifers want the amendment passed without changes and placed on the August 2020 election ballot.
However, the abortion industry is working hard to defeat the amendment. Assuming it receives the required vote by the Kansas Legislature, pro-abortion advocates will then seek to have Value Them Both appear on the November 2020 ballot instead of the August ballot, hoping it will get lost in the thick of the presidential election. The abortion industry has nearly unlimited resources and a sympathetic media to use to its advantage.
