While I disagree with many of the Mormon theological teachings, I have to admit they got it right on this one.
This week the Mormon Church decided to pull thousands of their teenagers from the Boy Scouts of America program. According to onenewsnow.com “The Utah-based religion's announcement means an estimated 130,000-180,000 teenagers ages 14-18 will no longer participate in Boy Scouts starting next year, a significant loss for the Boy Scouts of America.”
Many of you know that over the past several years the BSA has made it a point to side with homosexual activists on multiple occasions. In May of 2013 the organization lifted the policy which prevented youth who were openly homosexual from joining. In July of 2015 the organization voted to begin allowing openly homosexual troop leaders. Openly homosexual youth and troop leaders could now be around other youth members in private areas such as a tents, shower roomd, etc. Both of these policies put the privacy and safety of youth at risk.
Boy Scouts have been around since 1910 and BSA membership is at its lowest in at least fifty five years.
This simply shows that the American public at large isn’t on board with the sexual deviancy agenda. Let’s not forget that prior to 2015 over 30 states passed constitutional marriage amendments which defined marriage as between one man and one woman. Nevertheless groups like BSA saw it necessary to force what was widely unacceptable behavior into the lives of young troopers.
Today, Hollywood, the media, and government are shaping our culture instead of the biblical and traditional values that built this great nation. It used to be that what was culturally unacceptable was also not accepted by the media. Homosexual activists then saw that America wasn’t in favor of their agenda so they went to corporate board rooms and court rooms to force acceptance of their same sex attractions and practices on American families. Hollywood started placing homosexual actors at the front of the screen, corporations began sponsoring LGBT pride events, and judges began striking down marriage amendments as “unconstitutional.”
The Boy Scouts of America is just another example of homosexual activists seizing control and influence over a national organization to advance its own agenda. The positive note is that such an organization has been widely rejected year after year by families across America. Note the continual drop in membership over the past few years. If BSA will get back to pitching tents and building fires rather than championing unnatural behavior then maybe it can stem the tide of those who are leaving the organization and regain relevance.
