Mastering the Truths of the Christian Life

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32

As Christians, the primary focus we hold is “…trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord” (Eph. 5:10) so we can have a healthy relationship with God.  Getting God’s words into our actions are the wings which allow us to fly in our faith.

However, what if we aren’t sure about some of the basics of our faith…starting with how God has revealed the truth to us?

If we aren’t solid here, then two things may happen.  First, we probably won’t be committed because of our uncertainty.  Second, that lack of commitment may cause us to build on sinking sand (Matt. 7:24-27).

“It is only by means of sound thinking about God,” says Dr. Richard Howe, a philosopher and Christian apologist, “…that gives us the hope of being able to live a sound life that is pleasing to God.”

American Family Association is proud to present Intro to God's Revelation with Dr. Richard Howe as produced and directed by M.D. Perkins.  Howe guides us in understanding how God has spoken in both creation and Scripture.   Intro to God’s Revelation provides the basics of how we can approach and understand the Bible in an age of skepticism and post-modernism.

It is intended, according to the workbook introduction, to “help you unpack and understand what God’s revelation is, how it comes to us through history, and how we can conscientiously understand it.”

Intro to God’s Revelation can be purchased as a set of DVDs with a workbook or separately.  As a set, it consists of two DVD discs with a total of six video sessions of about 30 minutes each and a very detailed 76-page workbook intended for use with the series.

However, if you don’t happen to own a DVD player, the workbook is very thorough and can stand alone.  It even includes two appendices, with my favorite being Appendix B, “The Demands of Context,” where five types of context for better biblical understanding are explained.  This allows us to rightly divide God’s word and multiply our faith.

This study’s flexibility allows it to be used by individuals, small groups, Sunday schools, and even as part of a discipleship program your church may already use.

It can be found at www.afastore.net or you can call 1-877-927-4917 to order.  Or click here for the direct order page.

In the short video below, Dr. Howe provides insights into how this study strongly connects the entire Bible to our growth so we can master the truths of the Christian life:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16-17 NKJV)
