Ed Vitagliano is director of research for American Family Association and news editor for the
AFA Journal , the organization's monthly publication with approximately
150,000 paid subscribers. AFA is a pro-family advocacy organization with over
two million online supporters.
As news editor, Ed tracks current news events affecting cultural issues. He writes cover stories,
issues in focus and in-depth analysis features on controversial topics involving
religion and culture. He wrote and co-produced AFA videos “It's Not Gay,”
“Suffer the Children” and “Facing Lions.”
Ed is a regular contributor on the AFA Report , a daily panel discussion with members
of the AFA staff regarding hot button issues of the day that airs on nearly 200
American Family Radio stations across the country.
Ed writes and speaks on issues including the church and culture, homosexuality and the
influence of media and entertainment.
As a media spokesperson, Ed has been a guest on NBC, PBS, NPR and numerous other media
outlets. He has been quoted in major publications such as The New York Times
, The Washington Times , Chicago Tribune and
Atlanta-Journal Constitution .
Ed is an ordained minister and graduate from Southern California College with a degree in Biblical
Studies and Political Science. In addition to writing for the AFA Journal
, he pastors a local church in northeast Mississippi. Previously, Ed worked
as a radio news and newspaper reporter and taught junior high and high school
history. Ed and his wife Diane have two children.
